Riccardo Apreda Riccardo Apreda, PhD, is founding partner and R&D Director at Erre Quadro s.r.l.. He holds a M.Sc. in Physics at University of Pisa (“summa cum laude”) and obtained his Ph.D. in Physics at University of Pisa in 2003. After few years of academic career in Theoretical Physics in UK and Germany, he decided to dedicate his efforts to Engineering Design and Data Science. His present research interests include: formal representation of technologies; tools for supporting creativity and innovation; algorithms for the automatic analysis of texts. In his role of Head of R&D in the company, he leverages his strong theoretical and mathematical background to lead the development of innovative algorithms for data retrieval, cleaning and subsequent analysis, as well as of mathematical models to detect hidden patterns and useful insights from the extracted information. Besides the internal research, he also directly supervised over a hundred business projects on product innovation or strategic analysis for SMEs, Large Enterprises and Institutions alike. He worked as Scientific Coordinator in a Technology Foresight study promoted by Tuscany Regional Authority, and participated as joint principal investigator (for the industrial side) on various EU and national funded projects. Dario Brugnoli Dario Brugnoli is a Senior Patent Analyst in Erre Quadro. He holds a M.Sc. in Management Engineering at the University of Pisa. He graduated in 2015 with a dissertation about the development of methods and tools for the execution of patent analyses. He started his collaboration with Erre Quadro in 2014 and became permanently part of the team in 2015. His main focus is the massive analysis of patents information to support customers in their strategical planning and in their processes of new products development. He has been involved in several projects about the mapping of different technological sectors for competitive intelligence analysis and technological overviews.
